Joining C&K Careers
January 13, 2020
Recently, I started a new job at C&K Careers as an apprentice employer engagement administrator. I found the job on the Kirklees Council website, which I was instantly interested in. The application form was on the C&K Careers website - www.ckcareersonline.co.uk, which I filled in and emailed over. The job advert also had information about an open event that was being held, so people could come and see what the job was about and get an insight into the company. I attended this, which was useful as I learnt and understood more about the job.
At first, I was told I wasn’t getting an interview but then on the day the interviews were being held, I got a phone call saying there had been a mix up and they invited me for an interview at half 12.
I had very short notice for the interview, which left me with hardly any time to prepare, however I think being so last minute could be a good thing because I didn’t have much time to think about it and get nervous. Although, when I was waiting in reception for the interview, I was getting quite nervous but I think I was quite shocked too as I didn’t expect it. The interview started with a mini test then I had the main interview, which was carried out by the manager of the employer engagement team and his manager. After the interview I wasn’t very positive, so when I got the phone call saying they were offering me the job I was over the moon.
On my first day I was quite anxious but everyone made me feel so welcome especially the people in the team I work in, employer engagement. Now I have been here for two weeks, I feel like I’ve settled in well and I'm learning the job role well.
I have been working within the work experience side mostly at the moment but I have been shown and told about recruitment. In the coming weeks we have some apprenticeship events coming up, which I am looking forward to being involved in.
As the role is an apprenticeship, every Wednesday I have to go to Kirklees College to complete a Level 2 Business Administration course. I have been to the college for an induction, where I received lots of information about the course and the college. I also did a small maths and English test, so they can see what level I’m at. My first full day at college was on Wednesday 29 January.
